Are you wanting to develop your photography skills? If so, why not spend a day with Ross on location, learning more about the art of exposure, creative use of movement, filtration, light and composition. Whatever your level of experience or expertise, the day will be tailored to your individual requirements and needs…
Ross is one of the UK’s leading outdoor photographers. He is the author of five photography books and regularly writes about photographic technique for a number of national and international magazines. Despite only being in his thirties, he has been working professionally for over a decade and has a wealth of knowledge… it is certainly safe to say that he knows his stuff! His work with Dawn 2 Dusk Photography and Tatra Photography make him an experienced tutor. Ross’ relaxed, friendly and enthusiastic style of communicating what he teaches always makes him popular among participants.
Q) What happens on a 1-2-1 workshop with Ross?
A) The principal aim of the day is that you develop your photographic skills in order to benefit your photography long term. However, with tuition taking place entirely on location, hopefully you will also return from the day with some great shots. Normally, the day will start with a dawn shoot, followed by a short break/breakfast in order to talk through any relevant technical points and to review images taken so far. The rest of the day will be spent in the field, covering the aspects of photography relevant to you. Locations can be decided through discussion with Ross. Being based in the South West of England, you will benefit from a wide choice of truly stunning locations, including the rugged Cornish coastline, North Devon, Dartmoor and Exmoor. More experienced photographers may simply want Ross to guide them to the best, most photogenic locations in the area, with minimal instruction. Weather depending, the day will finish at dusk. 1-2-1 tuition is for up to nine hours of instruction – therefore, during the summer months, there may be a short break in the middle of the day.
Q) What level do I need to be?
A) Any level. Ross is experienced at teaching all levels of photography; from complete beginner to aspiring professional.
Q) What do I need to bring?
A) An SLR camera, a range of focal lengths (ideally, from wide-angle to medium telephoto), film/digital memory, tripod and whatever filters and accessories you already have. If needed, Ross can lend you filters and a sturdy tripod.
Q) What about transport?
A) Transport is provided while on location.
Q) What if the weather is bad on the day?
A) If, the day beforehand, the forecasted weather looks wet/poor, the day can be rearranged for a future date.
Q) How much does the day cost?
A) For a full day (up to nine hours) the cost is £250.00. Alternatively, why not share the day (and cost) with a friend. A day’s tuition for two people is £300.00.
Q) What happens once I have booked and paid my deposit?
A) Ross will contact you directly to discuss your requirements, potential locations and to arrange a mutually convenient date.
